Based in Norwich, Norfolk, Norwich City Football Club, also known as The Canaries or The Yellows, is an English professional football club. They currently compete in the EFL Championship, the second tier of the English football league system. Established in 1902, Norwich City has been playing their home games at Carrow Road since 1935. They have a longstanding rivalry with Ipswich Town, their East Anglian counterparts, and have been engaged in the East Anglian derby since 1902. Norwich City has achieved success by winning the League Cup on two occasions, in 1962 and 1985. Their highest-ever league finish was in the 1992-1993 season when they secured a remarkable third-place position in the Premier League. The club made an appearance in the UEFA Cup during the 1993-1994 season, reaching the third round. Notably, they became the first English club to defeat German side Bayern Munich at the Olympiastadion in Munich. "The Canaries" is a nickname bestowed upon the club due to the historical breeding of canary birds in the area. This is reflected in the team's yellow-and-green kits. The fans' anthem, "On The Ball, City," holds the distinction of being the oldest football chant in the world, having been written in the 1890s and still sung passionately by supporters to this day.
